“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” Welcome to Jane Thorpe Photography where I specialise in contemporary, natural child portraits. When I first started training as a photographer eight years ago, I wasn't sure what type of photographer I wanted to be....wedding photographer, portrait photographer, fashion photographer, medical photographer...the possibilities seemed endless. However, fate intervened. I became pregnant with my son during my training and having a beautiful baby to photograph it was a no-brainer. I found I loved taking photographs of children...natural photographs which show the personality and innocence of the children I photograph. I don't find children respond well to formality, the photographs often look staged and stiff, the children don't always look particularly relaxed or indeed happy and get bored easily in a studio environment. I prefer to capture the moment and attempt to capture the essence of your child in getting them to do something they enjoy, then taking the photographs at the pertinent moment to capture that moment in time to treasure for a lifetime. I like to use natural lighting in a setting where the child will feel comfortable and happy, so I tend to photograph outdoors, in your garden or a park. Light conditions permitting the shots can sometimes be taken in your home, this will all be discussed with you prior to the shoot....and if it rains on the day, we can reschedule no problem! |
